Wind Resource Grid
The Wind Resource Grids (WRG) provided by UL through Windnavigator give users the ability to do everything from siting met towers to designing preliminary layouts to obtaining preliminary estimates of the wind energy generated for small to multi-turbine wind projects. These files are not intended for detailed plant design or definitive energy production estimates. For information on access to data for these purposes please contact us.
Deliverable
  • Format: WRG
  • Resolution: 200m
  • Fixed 25km x 25km area
  • Choose your hub height (10m to 140m)
  • File includes elevation, roughness, wind speed distribution (Weibull A, k and sector-wise probability), and power density
  • Binary file included
The binary file is designed to address the lack of precision in ACSII WAsP wind resource grids and the limitations of using Weibull A, k and sector-wise probability. The binary file is currently included with every Basic WRG purchase and contains the same point data as Basic WRGs plus inflow angle by direction.
Our WRGs work with all leading wind farm design and optimization packages including UL's wind farm design software, Openwind. These files are not intended for detailed plant design or definitive energy production estimates. For these purposes please contact us.
